"We were walking through the Expo at the American Royal BBQ Competition, sponsored by the Kansas
City Barbeque Society (KCBS), this year and sampling different products. I stopped at Chili Dawg's
Foods of Fire booth and they gave me a sample of their Strawbanero. I was blown away with the flavor. I
bought a couple of jars and headed back to our camp to give my partners a taste. Everyone loved it. As
a rule, we do not make any changes to our tried and true processes, however, after tasting Strawbanero,
we decided to add it to the flavor profile of the chicken we turned in. It gave our final product a hint of
strawberry sweetness and a little more heat at the end. We were very pleased with it... and so were the
judges! We tied for 3rd at the American Royal Invitational out of 138 State Champions, the Best of the
Best. Thank you, Chili Dawg's."

Editor's Note: "Lion Bout the Q" cooked 13 times in 2010 in four different states. They are currently ranked 100 out of 5,320 teams competing in KCBS events this year. They have finished in the top ten in seven of the 11 regular KCBS contests they have participated in. The picture is of the team, after their Grand Champion win this year.
Update from Peter Wright: "We won chicken at the KCBS Bandits BBQ shootout this weekend in St Louis. It was an incredibly tough field with the team of the year there and 11 teams present that are in the top 50. We used our same ratio of Strawbanero in our sauce, just like we did at the American Royal. While we are pretty good chicken cooks, I am delighted with your product as it gives us more depth in flavor. We cannot wait to try your Peachbanero! Just another quick update. Thanks much, Peter Wright"
