History of Chili Dawg's
Why did Chili
Dawg decide to start a food business?
Since 1990, after moving out of Omaha, Nebraska to an acreage in
the country, the Dawg made salsa using fresh ingredients from his
garden. He experimented with various combinations of tomatoes, peppers,
onions, garlic and many spices to create several flavors of salsa.
He also began making hot jellies using various hot peppers grown
in his garden.
In the early 90’s he began to share his concoctions with
family and friends. His recipes continued to improve. Then, like
many entrepreneurs, the Dawg continued to get suggestions from family,
friends and business associates that he should bring his recipes
to market. After much contemplation he decided he should give it
a try.
The Dawg will not compromise on the quality of his salsa recipes.
Due to trouble finding a year-around source for fresh tomatoes and
some other special ingredients for his brand of salsa, the Dawg
is delaying introduction of his salsa to the market.
He has however begun to market Hablemeno (pronounced; hab-la-mean-o).
Hablemeno is an outstanding and very unique Habanero Pepper Spread.
The recipe for Hablemeno was developed by the Dawg while making
fruit jelly one day with his wife. He thought that a hot Habanero
jelly would be a great idea. He experimented several times with
the recipe trying many combinations of ingredients. Hablemeno has
evolved into a versatile spread that is great on almost anything.
Hablemeno Pepper Spread – it is not a jelly, jam or preserve,
it is a very versatile spread. It is a unique gourmet spread. A
very special spread used to spice up and put a zing in Hors d’oeuvres,
toast, bagels, crackers, snacks and meat dishes. The possibilities
are endless. The “sweet before the heat” gives the consumer
a very unusual combination of flavor and heat. It has a distinct
and very robust flavor.
The uses for Hablemeno are endless. Hablemeno can be used on toast,
bagels, on crackers with cream cheese, as a glaze on meat, chicken
or fish dishes. Some people use it on salads. Some mix it with BBQ
sauce. Some folks will mix it with their favorite marinade. Many
use it in pinwheels. Hablemeno can even be used on Chinese dishes
like Shrimp fried rice or Shrimp with lobster sauce to give it some
sweet heat. The uses are virtually endless. It clearly is more than
a jelly, jam or preserve.
Consumers of Hablemeno benefit greatly in that they now have one
of the best appetizer enhancements for their parties. It is a specialty
to use when entertaining guests. Meals are enhanced with a special
and different flavor not common today.
Hablemeno is a hit! Almost everyone, who tries it, loves it! Some
who cannot eat hot products very often do like Hablemeno. Given
its many uses, we at Chili Dawg’s Foods of Fire have no doubt
that it will be a hit with you and your guests.
